Review of the Modernising Business Registers Program - Final Report

The Australian Government released the Final Report of the Review of the Modernising Business Registers Program (MBR) on 28 August 2023.

The Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services, the Hon. Stephen Jones MP, announced on releasing the report that the Government will not proceed any further with the program, after the independent review found delivering the program as outlined may cost up to $2.8 billion.

Originally expected to be finalised in 2023-2024, the MBR program could have taken until 2029 to finalise, the independent review found.
